Sunday club runs
Club runs PDF Print E-mail

Runs list (members only). An up-to-date list of the ride details is made available to registered members. Please login or register to join the VCC and gain access.

Our club runs take place every Sunday - except New Year's Day.

We generally have 50+ riders out and split ourselves across 5-6 groups depending on ability. There is always a planned coffee stop at 11:00am before heading back.

Each group will go at the speed of the slowest rider, regrouping when necessary. No one is left behind!

Note that we have introduced a new policy to meet up and brief new applicants before riding with us on our Sunday Club Runs. Please contact Doug, Richard, or Paul if you would like to come along and we will arrange a time to meet with you to run through some important safety points, ride etiquette and will explain other facilities within the club. They will let you know where & when we meet and explain the procedures for Sunday riding.

Please do not just turn up on a Sunday morning because you will be sent away!

Note that you must have 3rd party liability insurance to ride with the club. Acceptable policies include British Cycling (BC), Cyclists Touring Club (CTC), British Triathlon Association (BTA) and League of Veterans Racing (LVRC - only applicable to over 40's)

You can ride with us four times before deciding whether you wish to join the VCC.

Club run FAQs PDF Print E-mail

How experienced do I need to be?

No experience .. no problem. This is the benefit of joining an established cycling club where we are keen to help introduce new riders to club riding. Please find attached some beginner's guidlines.

How fit do I need to be?

For the sociable group, you need to be able to ride for about 3.5hrs in total (in two sessions, before and after a tea stop) at a steady pace (13mph). If you're not sure, please consult your doctor.

Do I need an expensive bike?

No, but it must be roadworthy. Smooth tyres and well-functioning gears will help. Carry an inner tube and tools to fix a puncture. Get your bike checked at a local bike shop if you're unsure.

Why join the VCC?

Your fitness will improve faster and group riding is safer. Then there's the fun, camaraderie and competition. You can't get any of this by yourself!

What does membership cost?

£20 per year or free for under 18s. For insurance purposes, you must also join either: British Cycling; the CTC; The League of Veteran Racing (LVRC); British Triathlon

Can I try before I buy?

Yes, you can ride with us four times before deciding.
