RELIABILITY RIDES

What is a Reliability Ride?

Reliability rides provide late winter (Jan-Mar) training rides where the object is to provide base fitness in preparation for the more demanding riding that will follow when the weather improves. In today’s world of sportives they are enjoyed by more than just competitive cyclists. Riders are self supporting and there are no organised stops en route. The rides are not races, you are riding on the open roads.

Traditionally, these events were held over 100 miles. Riders were required to state a completion time and to arrive at the check points and back at the HQ at their stated time. Failure resulted in no certificate. Today these rides are a less testing 100km and the time challange is no longer strictly imposed.
