Nick Black - Treasurer

Member of VCC since 2019

My cycling story...

Just over 15 years ago, a good friend returned to New Zealand. As he went, he left me a bike and a message that I needed to start cycling. After solo cycling for about 5 years and losing almost 5 st, I spent a week in Greece following a Verulam jersey on some guided rides. The subliminal messaging worked. I joined VCC in 2019, although I don’t think I have crossed paths with the owner of the jersey.

Six  Years later, I am enjoying club rides, my cycle commute and I try to take in a European sportive each year. 2025 was Strade Bianche.

About my role...

The Treasurer role is to help the Committee plan using a sustainable level of expenditure, spend our money responsibly, keep track of our income, outgoings and cash balances, and be accountable to the members for record keeping.

More about me...

In the real world, I have a wife and daughter and work as an accountant for a large independent petrol station operator. We are also season ticket holders at Saracens. If we end up riding together be careful to steer conversations away from the petrol stations we pass.
