Doug Driscoll - Racing Secretary
Member of VCC since 1994
My cycling story...
Raced seriously as a junior on the road and track, but then took 20 years out discovering other adventures in life (car racing, motorcycling, women etc.). Returned riding MTB races in 1994 and joined the VCC shortly thereafter.
For me, the VCC has a unique balance of serious cycling and friendly/interesting individuals. The Sunday club runs offer a superb opportunity to have both a solid workout and enjoy some great camaraderie.
About my role...
To encourage racing at all levels and as part of this take a lead in the managment of the Racing team.
I also have an active role with the Youth Development and I am a British Cycling Level 2 Coach. This is where I see the future of the club and I have a personal ambition to a) Provide children of St Albans and the surrounding area with the opportunity to discover cycling and b) Establish the next generation of the Verulam CC.
More about me...
North London Division Road Champion and a 5th at the Track Nationals … just after the war. Had a few wins at x-country MTB racing many years later. My favourite anecdote: The older I get, the better I was!
