Davinder Bhatia - Youth Development Secretary
Club members since 2005
My cycling story...
I joined VCC over 16 years ago and gradually improved my cycling over the years culminating in participating in European sportives. In 2012 I was given the opportunity to participate in the Olympic opening ceremony as a cyclist, but at the 11th hour I was not required. Even so I then made a commitment to help more Youths get into cycling specifically to increase the under 18s VCC membership.
My role...
I am VCC's Youth Development Secretary and I support organising and running weekly coaching sessions for Track, Cyclo-cross and road cycling. We also have a weekly Sunday Youth group ride. We have Youths from 6 to 18 years old and it's all about having fun whilst cycling. We could not imagine back in 2012 that we would have over so many Youths at our coaching sessions as well as being VCC members and racing team members.
More about me...
I have lived in St. Albans for the last 18 years with my family and I am very passionate about getting more Youths into cycling. I work in London and still regularly cycle, but coaching Youths is the priority right now as we have more success on the track, on the road and in cyclo-cross competitions.
