My cycling story...

I properly got into cycling in 2014 when I moved to london and realised it was the cheapest and quickest way to get around! Cycling around London soon turned into cycling out of London and seeing what adventures I could have on my bike. In 2017 I travelled to the Indian Himalayas and cycled the highest motorable road in the world (self supported). This trip really pushed me to my limits but instilled in me a huge enthusiasm and love for travelling by bike. Since then my bike has taken me to many more places including: across the baltics, around the welsh coast, the Scottish north coast 500, the Slovenia alps and Icelands West Fjords.
More recently I have focused on road biking and have completed several sportives, some audax's and an ultra cycling event in 2023. I joined VCC in 2021 and can normally be found riding with the inters on a Sunday club run.

About my role...

I am joint Vice Chair with Beverley. Our job is to support the Chair and the committee.

More about me...

Day to day I work as a nurse specialising in Homeless Health. I'm originally from the Peak District and go back regularly to make the most of the very steep hills. I love being outdoors in general and travelling with and without my bike.

My cycling story...

I started riding when I was a kid. School holidays saw me and my friends riding around the streets doing lots of silly things like riding no hands, backwards and three to a bike. I fell in love with mountain biking after uni, when I'd take my prized Specialized StumpJumper over to Coed y Brenin in Snowdonia and hurtle down switchbacks with a huge grin on my face. What could be more fun?
I bought a road bike in 2019 (such narrow tyres!) and haven't looked back since. For me, cycling is as much about mental as physical health. Riding in a friendly group, having a great laugh, getting some exercise and feeling the wind and rain on my face really helps with the pressure of work and everything life throws at us.

About my role...

I have a joint role with Lucy to support the chair and get involved with rider development. I'm particularly interested in getting new folks into cycling.

More about me...

Since I crossed to the dark side of road cycling I've ridden Edinburgh to John O'Groats (wet!), done the VCC Majorca week (awesome!) ticked off several of the famous Tour de France climbs (slowly!) and a few UK sportives which I love the laid back vibe of. I'm usually on a club run on a Sunday, and did my first crack at time trialling last summer - unbelievably hard but also kinda fun. When I'm not cycling, I'm walking our dogs or enjoying a nice pint of beer.
